Chaos legion is one of the best hack-and-slash games that had appeared on ps2. The story takes place in a gothic environment where you
take control of a hero, Sieg Wahrheit who can summon powerful monsters called “legions” who can aid him in battle. The story progresses
as Seig fight his old time friend who happened to have turned against him.
Each of those legions has their own special weapons and is effective towards a certain enemy and can be used offensively or defensively
depending on the command that u assign to it. These legions are also capable of gaining levels and growing stronger after each battle unlike
the hero who only becomes stronger by collecting items. Legions are unlocked by progressing in the game and the ultimate legion (Thanatos)
is the only optional unlock. You CAN win the game without him but I strongly suggest that you unlock Thanatos for some very cool visual
effects.
The gameplay is simple but button smashing that works on most other hack-and-slash genre games may not work as effectively here as some
enemies cannot be defeated just by cutting them apart. Gameplay can be played in a different ways as you can choose to either summon your
legions to fight the enemies or use them to empower yourself as you slash through the endless hoards of enemies. Boss fights are rather standard
while the real difficulty lies in the progression of the game as some times, the enemies are really tough. Otherwise the game is quite easy with
about 13 levels. The graphics are very standard of a ps2 game and the music is nice. Overall, Chaos Legion is a game that every hack-and-slash
fan should have.
